A charming and interesting recording of the 1972 Dorothy Fields evening in the Lyrics and Lyricists series. Much of the Fields commentary is preserved and she performs some of the songs herself. In her dry deep voice she provides entertaining insights into her career; her singing is less successful. The excellent professional singers provide good but often abbreviated versions of most of the standards and a few rarities.
