I love Jeri, and it's great that so much of her material from the
1950s is being released on reasonably priced CDs.
In this twofer bargain, 24 numbers get the Jeri treatment. She
takes her time with a lyric, making it conversational and direct.
She dispenses with the introductory verse to Porgy,
but includes the one in I Must Have That
Man grabbing the attention with a bluesy arrangement. "I
don't need a friend" she states emphatically.
